Kenya will host the sixth international export from September 21–23, 2023, at the Sarit Expo Centre.
The event is co-organised by AFRIPEAK EXPO and the Kenya Investment Authority (KENINVEST), as well as the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI).
The three-day event will draw investors from China and Africa.
This comes as Kenya has announced plans to increase its direct foreign investments from China by 10% by December of this year, from the current 341 million dollars.
During the media briefing, Kenya Investment Authority managing director June Chepkemei stated that the upcoming Kenya International Industrial Expo, which will be held from the 21st to the 23rd of this month at Sarit Centre, will provide Kenya with the opportunity for more collaborations as Kenya seeks to foster a transition towards environmentally conscious industrial practise in line with the Kenya Kwanza plan for ensuring safe climate mitigation.
She also assured the investors that Kenya will use business-to-business and business-to-consumer connections at exhibitions to bridge the gap between the two countries. China is Kenya’s largest trading partner, with bilateral trade increasing rapidly from 186.37 million US dollars in 2002 to 5.3 billion US dollars in 2018.
However, because of the sizeable investment, trade agreements, and development assistance Kenya receives from China, its current trade deficit has reached $7 billion USD.
The expo will, among other things, showcase the latest advancements in clean energy, resource efficiency, and sustainable manufacturing processes, setting the stage for a future where industries can thrive without harming the planet.
Over 30 local businesses have been chosen to showcase their products to international markets, with 12 open slots.
So far, for the last five years, the expo has attracted over 7,000 professionals from Africa, and a turnover of over 500 million USD has been gained.
In an effort to ensure climate security, the sixth edition will concentrate on industrial products that are climate-smart.
Entrance to the expo is free to all members of the public.
The range of exhibits includes mechanical equipment, Environmental and chemical products, Building materials and hardware, Electric energy, Agricultural machinery, Complete vehicle and auto parts, housewares, textiles, and Consumer goods.
