United States First Lady Jill Biden Would be visiting Kenya in February according to Alfred Mutua, cabinet secretary for foreign and diaspora affairs.
US First Lady Jill Biden will visit the nation in February, Mutua announced on Wednesday.
“Next month, we will get high-profile leaders coming to our country. The spouse of the US president will be here,” he said.
Mutua remained mum regarding the visit’s objective, though. According to the CS, Kenya is currently a popular travel destination for international dignitaries because of its commitment to democracy.
He lauded Kenya, stating that it offers a setting that upholds fundamental liberties and human rights.
“Kenya’s place is high right now. I was invited to the G7 as Kenya’s foreign minister with other ministers because of Kenya’s place in the world and the role we are playing in the peace process because of the democracy that we have,” Mutua said.
Among the more than 50 African heads of state invited to the US-Africa Leaders Summit in December 2022 was President William Ruto.
Ruto held discussions with several partners outside of the high-level meeting between US President Joe Biden and the continental leaders.
“Among the deals, he secured our partnerships with World Bank on various economic projects in the country and on climate innovations and carbon removal,” the CS said.
