Award-winning Kenyan actress Winnie Bwire, also known as Dida from the TV show Sultana, has sadly passed away after a battle with cancer.
Her family made the announcement, which was shared by Citizen TV’s Lulu Hassan.
“It is with heavy hearts and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce Winfred Bwire Ndubi lost her battle with cancer on 5th September 2024, while undergoing treatment in Turkey.
“We thank you all for your overwhelming support, prayers, and generous giving during her treatment. We will share more details in due course” the announcement read.
Winnie was receiving treatment in Turkey when she passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2024.
Her last post on Instagram was just five days before her death, where she thanked those who had supported her medical journey.
“I am failing to caption this because I’m a mess. Not enough thank yous will ever suffice for the sacrifice, support, prayers, tears, time, and money you have given me. Dear Humans, Mubarikiwe sana,” she wrote.
Winnie had been fighting breast cancer for some time, frequently in and out of hospital. Her bravery and openness about her illness earned her the admiration of many, and she used her platform to raise awareness about the condition in Kenya.
