A former General Service Unit (GSU) police officer, Anthony Ongere Moseti has been sentenced to 15 years imprisonment by magistrate’s court in Nairobi, over a rape incident that took place at the GSU headquarters in February 2017.
Moseti was found guilty of raping his then sister-in-law at the Kenya Police Headquarters, in a bid to get back at his wife who separated from him.
The embittered senior police officer had reportedly lured his former sister-in-law into the GSU Headquarters Sub unit camp maintenance section, where he claimed he kept her shoes which she came for, and had raped her severally. She managed to escape and report the case, but an arrest was not made immediately. He was later arrested and was convicted on March 30.
Moseti’s sentence comes five years after he perpetrated the act in February 2017, following an investigation by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) in his case number IPOA/CMU/218/2017 that found him guilty of all charges.
