A 33-year-old teacher identified as Bernard Langat, reportedly took his own life outside a rented apartment belonging to his girlfriend in the Ndaraweta area of Bomet County, Kenya.
According to John Tanui, the assistant chief of the area, Langat’s lifeless body was discovered hanging from the verandah roof of the residence.
Reports suggest that Langat had been spending time with his girlfriend, a student at Bomet Central TTI, who resides in a rental property near the school.
“We were told he had been around for some days with his girlfriend who is pursuing her studies here at the college. It seems he didn’t spend his night with his lover for unknown reasons last night. His girlfriend, commonly known as Sharon, was the first to break the sad news,” Chief Tanui stated.
An unverified Facebook post, purportedly authored by Langat, raised concerns about his romantic relationship and hinted at his intention to end his life. In the post, he expressed gratitude to his family for supporting his education and reminisced about his interactions with students.
Police from Silibwet police station visited the scene and transferred the body to the Longisa hospital mortuary for further examination.
Until his demise, Langat was a JSS teacher in one of the schools in Trans Mara, Narok County.
