Armed kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N900 million for Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, the mother of popular Hausa musician Dauda Adamu, known as Rarara.
According to a family source, the captors initially demanded N1 billion but reduced it to N900 million during negotiations through a phone they had taken from another woman during the abduction.
“Initially, they asked for N1 billion but later agreed to N900 million after a brief discussion with a family member,” the source revealed. “They insisted on finalising the deal with Rarara himself due to his distress over his mother’s abduction, but eventually settled with a family representative. They assured the family that Hajiya is safe and will be released upon payment.”
The source mentioned that negotiations, although interrupted, are ongoing as the family awaits further communication from the kidnappers.
The kidnappers reportedly used Hajiya’s photograph to confirm her identity before taking her from her bedroom. Residents of Kahutu village expressed shock over the incident, highlighting Hajiya’s renowned generosity and support for the community.
“Hajiya is a maternal figure to everyone in this village,” one resident said. “Her charitable deeds, including sponsoring marriages and assisting the less fortunate, have endeared her to all. She is known for solving people’s problems with her kindness.”
The family remains hopeful for Hajiya’s safe return as efforts continue to secure her release.
