A 10-year-old boy, Tasi’u Abdullahi, was tragically murdered by his kidnappers in the Rikkos area of Jos North, Plateau State, despite part of the ransom being paid.
Abdullahi was reportedly killed after his parents paid ₦150,000 out of the agreed ₦300,000 ransom. His body was discovered in a sack near his family home on Friday.
The boy’s uncle, Aliyu Muhammad, recounted that Abdullahi was kidnapped outside his family home on Monday, 16 December, after being lured by unidentified individuals.
Five days later, the kidnappers contacted the family, initially demanding ₦50,000 for the boy’s feeding and ₦1 million as ransom. After negotiations, they accepted ₦300,000, of which ₦150,000 was transferred to them.
Muhammad said, “After paying ₦150,000, we were devastated to receive a call informing us our child had been killed. His body showed signs of strangulation, with blood from his nose and mouth.”
Two suspects have reportedly been arrested in connection with the crime.
