Kiir, Museveni Hold Briefs on Peace, Security in South Sudan

President Salva Kiir has held talk with his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on peace and security ion South Sudan in light of the implementation process of the revitalized peace agreement.

Kiir had traveled to the Ugandan capital Kampala where he joined other East African heads of state and government in commemoration of Uganda’s 60th independence anniversary and where he was expected to meet his Ugandan and Kenyan counterparts.

In a statement issued, the the Suth Sudan presidency said Kiir met Museveni and discussed the implementation process of the revitalized peace agreement back home as well as the bilateral relations between the two countries.

“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Sunday held bilateral talks with his Ugandan Counterpart President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in Munyonyo,” the presidency statement released following the meeting reads in part.

“The two leaders further discussed matters regarding peace and security in South Sudan, as well as fostering bilateral cooperation for the mutual interest of the people of the two Countries,” the statement added.

Among senior government officials who accompanied President Kiir include presidential affairs Barnaba Marial Benjamin and cabinet minister Martin Elia Lomuro.
