King Charles III has extended an unprecedented invitation to US President Donald Trump for a second state visit to Britain, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced during a visit to the White House on Thursday.
Trump, who previously enjoyed a state visit in 2019 during his first term, will become the first political leader to receive such an honour twice. Handing over a personally signed letter from the monarch, Starmer called the invitation historic and unprecedented.

Trump, a long-time admirer of the British royal family, welcomed the offer, noting that Charles had invited him to Windsor Castle as well as Balmoral, near his Scottish golf resort. “He’s a beautiful man, a wonderful man,” Trump said of the king, confirming his acceptance.
The invitation is seen as a strategic move by Starmer, who is looking to strengthen ties with Trump on key issues, including Ukraine and trade tariffs. The visit is expected to underline the close relationship between the US and UK, as well as Trump’s personal connection to Britain through his Scottish-born mother.
