Kipchoge makes Laures awards shortlist

Kenyan Sports Personality of the year Eliud Kipchoge has been nominated for this year’s Laureus World Sportsman of the Year award.

The Marathon world record holder faces a strong field which includes French World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe, Basketball star LeBron James and FIFA World Player of the year and Balon d’Or winner Luka Modric 

Others on the final shortlist of six are tennis star Novak Djokovic and five-time World Formula one champion Lewis Hamilton.

Kipchoge enjoyed a brilliant 2018 that saw him smash the Marathon World Record in Berlin and also win his third London Marathon crown as well as being named the IAAF Athlete of the Year, just a few days after being named the United Nations person of the year.

The Laureus World Sports Awards will take place in Monaco on February 18.
