A young woman who attacked and killed her two-year-old daughter was admitted to a hospital in Kitengela, Kenya on Monday.
The 24-year-old perpetrator of the horrific attack, which was recorded by neighbours, collapsed and was taken to the hospital.
The mother claimed that she struck her infant because she despises herself and has gone through a lot of hardships with her child in an act of suspected violence associated with mental illness.
During the incident on Sunday night, neighbours watched in horror as the woman, a fourth-year student of commerce at a nearby university, stabbed the girl and severed her body parts.
After hearing screams, the neighbours ran to the house thinking there had been a criminal attack on the property. Instead, they discovered a young mother hitting her daughter while completely naked.
The young mother’s parents, who share a home with them, were not at home when the tragedy happened.
The toddler was already dead and the young mother was unconscious when the neighbours broke down the door and entered the home. The majority of the furnishings and equipment were damaged, and the house had been flipped inside out.
The incident is being investigated by Kitengela police.
The young mother will be charged after being questioned by the police, according to Kitengela DCI chief Benson Mutia.
“It’s a bizarre incident. We will be interrogating her to ascertain the motive of the killing. We also want to know if the murder was premeditated,” he said.
The event took place two days after a 22-year-old lady was allegedly involved in a love triangle when she was beaten and killed by her coworker at a pizza shop in Kitengela, Nairobi.
The attacker survived the public’s effort to lynch him and was brought to the hospital.
