Jurgen Klopp has congratulated Liverpool on their Premier League title success, expressing optimism for the club’s future under new manager Arne Slot.

Liverpool secured their 20th top-flight title — equalling Manchester United’s record — on Sunday in Slot’s debut season at the helm. The squad that delivered the title was largely built during Klopp’s tenure, which ended in May 2024.

Klopp, who famously chanted Slot’s name during his Anfield farewell, echoed his support again in a heartfelt Instagram post on Monday. Alongside an image of Liverpool’s title celebrations, he wrote: “Super grateful for the past, super, super happy about the present, extremely positive about the future! Congratulations – YNWA.” He signed off with “Thank you Luv”, a nod to the Liverpudlian expression that had endeared him to the city.

Slot, in turn, has regularly acknowledged the strong foundation Klopp left behind. Speaking after Sunday’s emphatic 5-1 win over Tottenham, the Dutchman thanked his predecessor during a live interview before breaking into song in Klopp’s honour.

Klopp, who guided Liverpool to Champions League and Premier League glory during his spell at the club, now serves as Red Bull’s head of global football.

Reflecting on Klopp’s influence, Slot said in his post-match press conference: “What he did, I don’t think any other manager has done before. That definitely helped me. But more than that, the team and culture he left behind have been priceless. The quality of the players and their work ethic, as well as that of the staff, has been incredible.”
