The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to cancel the election results from Kogi Central, local government of incumbent governor, Yahaya Bello.
SDP made the call in a letter of petition sent to the State Returning Officer, and signed by the agent of the party, David Edibo.
According to the party agent, the SDP did not accept the outcome of the election conducted in the senatorial district’s five local governments.

The petition letter was sent while collation of the November 11 governorship election result is still ongoing.
It should be noted that both the incumbent governor, Bello, and the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Usman Ododo, are both from Kogi Central local government.
The APC party agent, Idris King, has however objected to the petition sent by the SDP party agent.
The governorship seat of Kogi State is being fiercely contested for by the APC candidate Ododo, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Dino Melaye, Murtala Ajaka of the SDP, African Democratic Party (ADC) candidate Leke Abejide, and many others.
