A three-storey building housing nine police officers and their families at the Nkawkaw Police Command in Kwahu West Municipality has been burnt beyond recognition.
Damaged household appliances in rooms included refrigerators, television sets, furniture, kitchen appliances, wardrobes, and other items.
None of the officers who lived on the ground floor was able to salvage their belongings in the burning three storey-building situated at Fire Stone Area in Nkawkaw.
Although the immediate cause of the accident has not been established, occupants escaped unscathed by the fire. They have been temporarily camped at the Nkawkaw Central Police.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service arrived to put the fire under control while the Kwahu West Municipal Chief Executive, Yaw Owusu Addo, who was at the scene to commiserate with victims, confirmed that all the officers lost their properties.
The Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw Constituency, Joseph Frimpong, who was also at the scene, urged the victims to remain patient while they work things out to have them properly rehabilitated.
The MP assured that arrangements would be made to provide a place for the officers and their families.
