The Nigeria Labour Congress proposes for N794,000 as the new national minimum wage for workers in the South West geopolitical political zone.
Funmi Sessi, chairman of the Lagos State branch of the NLC, made the demand during her presentation at the current public hearing of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage in Ikeja, Lagos, on Thursday.
Sessi stated that the demand was collectively agreed upon by all union members in the South West.
Labour’s N1 million minimum wage is unrealistic. On January 30, 2024, President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima convened a 37-member panel to discuss the new minimum wage at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja.
