Mojisola Meranda has been sworn in as the first female Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly following the impeachment of former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa during a plenary session on Monday.
Representing the Apapa 1 State Constituency, Meranda took her oath of office, pledging to serve faithfully and uphold the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Meranda stated, “I affirm that I will be faithful as the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly; that I will perform my functions honestly to the best of my ability, faithfully, and in accordance with the Constitution.”
Her appointment marks a historic moment in the state assembly’s leadership.
