The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has issued a strong condemnation of the remarks made by Seyi Awolowo, a contestant on the current Big Brother Naija All-Stars reality TV show. Seyi’s comments, which touched on sexual harassment and violence during a discussion with fellow housemates, have sparked outrage.

Seyi Awolowo, who expressed his desire to have three male children after already having one, made a controversial statement during the conversation. In his words,

“I gave birth to a boy first; he will f*ck your daughter! And I don dey save. I get shina account for my son, miscellaneous account, I dey pay money. I get that account for my son, I get that account for my guy son, I get that account for a lot of my boys, their son, they will f*ck your daughter! My boys! Dem go come meet me say, Daddy, I need the Benz. I will give them the Benz, I will give them the key to the guest house, them go go run train on people’s daughters. I dey say am plainly, and I know where I dey talk am from; I’m giving birth to boys, and dey go dey f*ck people daughters.”

In response to the explicit language used by Seyi Awolowo, the Lagos State Agency issued a statement on Sunday, expressing its strong disapproval. The agency emphasised the potential negative impact such comments can have on society.

The statement read, “We strongly condemn the comments made by Seyi Awolowo in the disturbing video that has surfaced. Such remarks perpetuate harmful attitudes and contribute to a culture of violence and abuse.

“The passive response of onlookers in the video is also deeply concerning because it only allows such behavior to continue. It is essential for all of us to actively speak out in situations like this.
