The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has declared that the working days for civil servants would be reduced to cushion the economic hardship in the country.

The governor made the statement on Thursday during the media parle on economic hardship as food prices continue to rise.

“We want to start with our public servants, immediately from next week, Civil servants from the lower level will be working like three times a week and level 15-17 can work four times in a week,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He added that more markets would be opened across the state, where residents can purchase foodstuffs at discounted rates.

Aside the working day slash for civil servants, Governor Sanwo-Olu said his administration is building building a food hub.

The said facility will become the largest logistics hub in sub-Saharan African when completed and ensure food security.

He added that the State Public Transport system, which consists of BRT buses, trains, and ferries, will reduce cost by 25%.

“First is to express empathy with our citizens, We are not unmindful of the situation, as leaders, we must be able to solve socioeconomic problems,” Sanwo-Olu said.
