Police in Lagos State have detained five people, including a couple, for allegedly selling a two-month-old baby.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the arrests in a statement issued Saturday in Lagos.
According to Hundeyin, investigators from the Oko-Oba Police Division detained the defendants after receiving a report from the infant boy’s mother.
According to him, the child’s mother indicated that one of the suspects had fled with her son to an unknown location on July 11.
During the inquiry, Gloria admitted to selling the infant for ₦500,000 to one Pastor Peter.
“Pastor Peter, who was detained in Ikene Town, Ogun State, acknowledged reselling the child to Loretta for N1.4 million.
“Loretta was later detained in Festac Town, Lagos. “She admitted to selling the baby for N2.3 million,” he stated.
According to the picture maker, further investigations led to the arrest of the baby’s final buyers, a couple known only as Mr and Mrs James, during the stolen child’s naming ceremony.
“All suspects will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation,” he assured us.
