Lagos Road Tragedy: Double Fatality in Car Crash

A multiple-vehicle crash along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos on Sunday resulted in the deaths of two people and injuries to several others.

Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), reported on Monday that the agency received a distress call and had promptly dispatched its State Emergency Response team to the location.

“At 5:52 PM on Sunday, the Eagle response team arrived at the scene of the incident and found a multiple accident involving a MAN truck with the registration number KTU 793 YE, transporting groundnut oil, a Honda Accord saloon car with the registration number KTU 223 GH, and two commercial buses.” He said.

According to information gathered at the scene, the MAN truck experienced a mechanical failure at high speed, causing it to lose control and collide with other vehicles.

Tragically, two adult males lost their lives in the incident, while several others sustained various degrees of injuries and were attended to by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS).

The statement added that all four vehicles involved in the crash suffered extensive physical damage.

Furthermore, the deceased individuals’ bodies have been handed over to the police officers present at the scene and have been transported to the mortuary.
