The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) affirms the state government’s unwavering commitment to intensifying efforts to minimise domestic and sexual violence issues within the state, ensuring inclusivity for all residents.
During a recent meeting with Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, the General Manager of the Lagos State Office of Disability Affairs (LASODA), the Executive Secretary, Mrs. Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, provided assurance regarding the state’s dedication to addressing issues related to domestic and sexual violence, especially concerning persons with disabilities.
Vivour-Adeniyi expressed the state government’s support, emphasising the importance of proper collaboration between the DSVA and LASODA to provide comprehensive services accessible to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.
In response, Oyetunde-Lawal commended the achievements of the DSVA, considering them commendable and worthy of emulation. She welcomed a lasting synergy and partnership to further advance the strides of LASODA in addressing issues related to persons with disabilities.
Emphasising the need for inclusivity, Oyetunde-Lawal suggested the integration of sign language interpreters during DSVA’s awareness campaigns to promote social inclusion, particularly for individuals with hearing impairments.
“Include them in your campaign team for a wider reach and carry them along to give them a sense of responsibility in society. We have a lot to emulate from your agency and believe this synergy will yield positive results as we set to achieve the objective of ensuring domestic and sexual violence issues are adequately addressed among Lagosians.”
