Lebron James surpassed the NBA all-time minutes played record, previously held by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, when he played his 57,447th minute during a game that helped the Los Angeles Lakers defeat Sacramento 113-100.
“It’s just a commitment to the craft and to the passion and love I have for the game,” James said. “I don’t take much time in the off-season, a little bit more time now.”
James contributed in various ways during the victory, though he let Anthony Davis handle much of the heavy lifting with an impressive 21 points and 20 rebounds.
The Lakers have secured victories in three of their last four matchups, and for further success, they will need both James and Davis to remain healthy.
Due to a foot issue, James missed two games in the last two weeks, but the five-day break proved to be a valuable chance for him to rest the injury.
Earlier this year, James eclipsed Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record, contributing 19 points to the game, while Austin Reaves scored 25 points, and Anthony Davis registered 21 points along with 20 rebounds.
