LASEMA Deploys Emergency Responders to Avert Accident from Lagos Oil Spill
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has deployed to the location of an oil spill in Mobolaji Johnson Avenue/Alfred Rewane Ikoyi Lagos. The agency activated its response plan to contain the spill and prevent further damage.
According to reports, members of the public have been advised to refrain from illegal scooping of the product to prevent any additional outbreak and to avoid igniting naked flames or fires.
LASEMA has assured the public that they are working to ensure that the situation is brought under control as soon as possible.
The cause of the spill is yet to be ascertained, but LASEMA has urged residents in the area to remain calm and cooperate with emergency responders to ensure a swift and safe response.
In a statement released by LASEMA, the agency said, “We have deployed our personnel to the scene of the incident and we are working closely with other agencies to ensure that the spill is contained and any potential risks are mitigated. We urge members of the public to avoid the area and to comply with safety instructions given by emergency responders.”
DG/CEO LASEMA, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu assured the public that they will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as necessary.
