At the age of 87, the renowned sports writer from Ethiopia, Fikru Kidane, has passed away while receiving medical attention for a minor illness.
Inspiring countless individuals, Fikru Kidane was a legend in Ethiopian sports journalism. Fikru Kidane provided greatly to Ethiopian sports and journalists since he cared so much about both fields of endeavor.
In addition to his job as a journalist, Fikru served as an employee of the Ethiopian Football Federation and founded and served as president of the Ethiopian Sports Journalists Association as well as the African Sport Journalists Association.
Firkru served as the Ethiopian Bicycle Federation’s Secretary General as well. Additionally, he provided lengthy service in senior roles at the International Olympic Committee and the CAF.
