Dapo Abiodun, the governor of Ogun State, has said that his administration will keep implementing sustainable development plans to support an economy that encourages resilience, growth, and equity.
For the sake of maintaining peace and the advancement of the state and the nation as a whole, the governor also urged the people of the state to put aside their disagreements and keep living together.
Abiodun made this claim in his New Year’s speech on Wednesday.
To improve society, the governor emphasised that people must unite in the next year with newfound vigour.
He declared, “Let us continue to unite as one, with a renewed sense of purpose, despite our differences, and work towards the betterment of our beloved state as we journey together in 2025.
“As we resolve to begin over in the New Year, we have the chance to take stock and remind ourselves of our obligations to one another.
“I want to encourage you that as we enter this New Year, let us do so with more focus, determination, and hope. Let’s work to make Ogun State a shining example of growth, development, and prosperity.”
According to him, his administration’s efforts to build roads, provide cheap housing, develop human capital, empower women and youth, provide high-quality healthcare, and ensure food security have had a positive, inclusive, and long-lasting effect on people’s lives.
Governor Abiodun also said that the administration has achieved great strides in the areas of energy, education, security, and transportation.
“In the field of energy, we passed the Ogun State Power Law after recent constitutional modifications moved the provision of power from the exclusive to the concurrent list.
“Ogun State may now control the production, transmission, and distribution of electricity since the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) authorised the transfer of regulatory supervision to the Ogun State Electricity Commission (OGERC),” he hinted.
The governor emphasised that the administration has developed a flexible, dynamic, and resilient structure that can withstand shocks by utilising the state’s comparative and competitive advantages as well as its varied economic potential.
As a compass for his administration’s developmental effort, he insisted that the ISEYA motto has aided in promoting rapid growth across all industries.
Abiodun stated that the administration would keep tackling problems that impact the people, like unemployment, economic realities, and insufficient social amenities, but he noted that more work has to be done.
The state helmsman stressed that his government would continue to work tirelessly in the new year to ensure that every citizen has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances, while pledging to remain focused, deliberate, committed, and inclusive by keeping his promises and maintaining the implementation of the ISEYA mantra.
“We have all survived thanks to God’s graces despite many difficulties, both as a government and as individuals. In this new year, I sincerely hope that everyone will live in better conditions and that our beloved state will continue to grow.
“The past year has demonstrated our shared determination to create the Ogun State of our dreams. Our state has come out stronger after enduring both real and symbolic storms. We have demonstrated that no obstacle is too big to overcome when we band together via deeds of kindness, community service projects, and the tireless efforts of our public officials. As the year begins, we recommit to promoting development and prosperity for all citizens of our state.
“With newfound optimism, let’s start this year to reach even bigger benchmarks for both personal and infrastructure advancement.
“As a responsible and responsive government, our vision for prosperity is based on a strong and diversified economy capable of navigating current challenges,” he added.
