A presidential aspirant in Liberia, Dr. Daniel E. Cassell, who became famous through philanthropic gestures around the country was on Wednesday March 16th, arrested in the United States.

Right at the airport, he was apprehended and escorted to the Clayton County Sheriff’s office in Jonesboro, Georgia as a fugitive from justice. His wife’s passport was also seized.

Prior to his arrest, Dr. Cassell had reportedly been on the run for months. His wife Bindu Coleman Cassell, was accused of conspiring with him to escape justice, which had earlier brought her under the watchful eye of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Dr. Cassell, who happens to be a Behavioural Specialist Consultant in the Philadelphia and Bucks County areas in the United States, established the Kwenyan Professional Health Services; a mental health/behavioural and substance abuse agency. It was reliably gathered, that he was cleverly using his company to carry out fraudulent activities and transactions, swindling unsuspecting persons of their hard earned monies.

Upon discovery by the Federal Reserve System (Feds), the FBI began a thorough investigation. His company, and all of his employees were not spared. In a bid to redeem themselves after being found wanting for compromising their licences, some of his employees went on to testify against him. Thus, the push for his immediate arrest was established.

Reports have it that he is on the verge of having his membership suspended by his political party, People’s Liberation Party (PLP).

Dr. Cassell has been known as an ardent critic of corruption in the George Weah-led government. He is said to constantly point accusing fingers at the regime for being insensitive to the plight of Liberians.

Through his powerful political rallies, he passionately addresses the issue of graft with a promise to fight it, so that Liberians can live the decent life they deserve once he is elected president come 2023.
