Libya Launches Massive Project to Stem Water Crisis

The Housing and Utilities Projects Authority in Sirte has commenced a massive 348-kilometre water supply project between Ras Lanuf in the east and Abu Qarin in the west.

The project is expected to solve the problem of water shortage in the municipalities located between the two regions.

It plans to install water tanks with storage capacity between 1,500 to 5,000 cubic metres.

The Authority announced months ago, that it was close to completing a new water network for 700 houses in the city of Awjilah, as part of the “Return to Life” plan launched by the Government of National Unity.
