Libya’s Parliament has elected Fathi Bashagha the former Libyan Interior Minister to take over as Interim Prime Minister (PM).
The new Prime Minister Fathi Bashagha served as Security Chief when Libya was divided between two administrations. He replaces interim Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah.
Dbeibah, who recently escaped an assassination attempt, said he would not step down until after a new administration is chosen following Presidential elections.
The Parliament also voted to approve amendments to a constitutional declaration. Saleh explained that the decision came after recommendation from the supreme council of state and the withdrawal of the second candidate, Khaled Al-Bibas.
