Libya’s Security Forces Foil Smuggling Operation

Libya’s security forces, the Counter-terrorism and Organised Crime Deterrence Agency (Al Radaa) foiled a smuggling operation, seizing significant quantities of cannabis.

The agency stated that the operation led to the arrest of a cell that had relocated from the Eastern part of the country and in a state of flagrante delicious in the city of Tarhuna.

The cell is said to be transporting over a thousand kilograms of cannabis and was carefully concealed in a food transportation truck. According to the arrested members, the concealed cannabis cell was designated to transport the drugs to Tripoli, from the city of Tobruk in the east before being arrested.

In a related operation, Libyan Customs at the Benjamin seaport, supported by the Libyan National Army (LNA), foiled the smuggling of 210,000 banned pills hidden inside cars coming from the Netherlands. Also, the Benjamin Customs had earlier in the week seized about 18 million tablets of Captagon, a controlled substance concealed within three containers that were falsely declared to contain fresh apples was shipped for Syria.

A total of 17,812,300 Captain tablets were confiscated and outrightly disposed of with evidence being retrieved for further legal action.
