Liverpool strengthened their grip on the Premier League title with a dominant 2-0 win over Newcastle on Wednesday, extending their lead at the top of the table to 13 points.
Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister scored either side of halftime to ensure the Reds maintained their unbeaten run in the league, now at 24 games. This victory followed a 2-0 win at Manchester City, further boosting their title hopes.
Arsenal’s earlier 0-0 draw at Nottingham Forest gave Liverpool a chance to extend their advantage, which they seized with a composed performance at Anfield.
Szoboszlai opened the scoring in the 11th minute, tapping in after a clever cut-back from Luis Diaz, though questions were raised about Newcastle goalkeeper Nick Pope’s attempt to stop it.

Newcastle, already without top scorer Alexander Isak due to a groin injury, found themselves on the back foot.
Callum Wilson squandered a golden opportunity to level the score, missing from a tight angle, while Szoboszlai came close to doubling the lead with a curling effort that narrowly missed.
Liverpool sealed the win just after the hour mark when Mac Allister fired into the top corner, assisted by Mohamed Salah, who still played a pivotal role despite failing to score himself.
The result leaves Newcastle in sixth place, three points off the top four, while Liverpool’s march towards a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title continues.
With just over two months remaining in the season, the Reds are firmly in control, and the Anfield faithful are already singing, “We’re going to win the league.”
