The Confederation of African Football officially revealed the top five nominees in the Men’s Categories for the upcoming CAF Awards 2024 on Monday.
The players who made it to the top five include Simon Adingra (Côte d’Ivoire / Brighton & Hove Albion), Serhou Guirassy (Guinea / Borussia Dortmund), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco / Paris Saint-Germain), Ademola Lookman (Nigeria / Atalanta), and Ronwen Williams (South Africa / Mamelodi Sundowns), all competing for the prestigious Player of the Year award at the CAF Awards 2024.
The CAF Awards 2024 event is scheduled for December 16, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco.
CAF has confirmed seven categories within the Men’s Category of the awards, each featuring the five top-performing players, coaches, and teams.
The categories announced were Goalkeeper of the Year, Interclub Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, Young Player of the Year, Club of the Year, and National Team of the Year.
The CAF Awards 2024 will consider performances from January 2024 through October 2024.
Lookman is favoured to claim the coveted Player of the Year award due to his exceptional performance during the previous and current seasons.
He netted three goals as Nigeria advanced to the Africa Cup of Nations final in Ivory Coast and made history by scoring a hat-trick in the 2024 UEFA Europa League final, leading his club to victory against Bayer Leverkusen.
