Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) are looking stronger than ever ahead of their highly anticipated Champions League last-16 clash with Liverpool, despite the departure of Kylian Mbappe. After a summer of high-profile signings and some early struggles in Europe, the French giants have regained their dominant form, winning their last five Champions League matches and remaining unbeaten domestically this season.

Coach Luis Enrique, who took charge at PSG last season, had previously expressed the need to replace Mbappe’s output with team efforts and new additions. The club responded by bringing in several new signings, but it was their recent resurgence in form that truly stands out. PSG are currently on a 22-match unbeaten streak in all competitions and recently delivered a sensational 4-1 win against Lille, their 10th consecutive victory.

Captain Marquinhos lauds the team’s collective approach, saying the squad has been developing steadily and remains in excellent form. Ousmane Dembele, PSG’s new talisman, has flourished this season, scoring 26 goals, including 21 since mid-December. Meanwhile, 19-year-old Desire Doue has added dynamism, registering 16 goal contributions since his arrival.

However, PSG will face a significant test against Liverpool, who topped their group in fine style. While PSG’s recent form suggests they are a force to be reckoned with, coach Luis Enrique remains cautious, acknowledging Liverpool as one of Europe’s best teams. “We will attack and try to turn the game our way,” Enrique said, emphasizing their offensive mentality.
