French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Saturday that he will host a trilateral summit with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II to address the escalating situation in Gaza.
This summit comes as Israel intensifies its efforts to gain control of territory within Gaza following the breakdown of a brief ceasefire with Hamas, citing the need to secure the release of remaining hostages. Concurrently, Israel has increased its military actions in Lebanon and Syria.

“In response to the Gaza emergency and during my visit to Egypt at President al-Sisi’s invitation, we will hold a trilateral summit with the Egyptian president and the King of Jordan,” Macron stated on social media before his departure.
Macron is scheduled to arrive in Cairo on Sunday evening and hold discussions with President al-Sisi on Monday morning. The trilateral summit will take place later that same day in the Egyptian capital, according to his office.
On Tuesday, Macron will visit the Egyptian port of El-Arish, located near the Gaza Strip, to engage with humanitarian and security personnel, underscoring his “constant mobilisation in favour of a ceasefire.”
