Madagascar, India Partner on Health Services


India and Madagascar have reached an agreement on the promotion of health including traditional medicine.

Indian ambassador Abhay Kumar held a meeting with Madagascar Health Minister Zely Arivelo on Monday and they discussed strengthening ties in the areas of health.

Madagascar is a growing nation in the area of traditional medicine, like India, which is known for its medical successes in the areas of orthodox and traditional medicine.

India said it has donated radiotherapy machines to cancer patients in the country in order to aid the treatment of the disease.

Antananarivo is also looking at increasing its exports from India with New Delhi’s new status as the Pharmacy of the world helping it attain a global reach. 

The production of free COVID-19 vaccines are some of the ways India is planning to help Madagascar. 

The two countries share flourishing ties which is on an upswing and several MoUs in key areas such as health, education, culture, information, and travel have been signed between the two countries.

There are over 20,000 Indian diasporas resident in Madagascar from coastal Gujarat who are expecting a visit of Prime Minister Modi to Madagascar, the first one by an Indian Prime Minister.
