Algerian winger, Riyad Mahrez created one and scored one as Manchester City came from behind to retain the Premier League title with a 4-1 victory at Brighton on the final day of the season.
Manchester City had a shaky start to the game at the Amex Stadium with Glenn Murray scoring for Brighton in the 27th minute when Senegal’s Sadio Mane had scored the opener for Liverpool against Wolves at Anfield- which temporarily moved the Reds top of the table.
City responded as Sergio Aguero struck just 83 seconds after Murray’s opener, before Mahrez supplied the cross that led to Aymeric Laporte’s header to secure a half-time lead.
Riyad Mahrez scored City’s third in the 63 minute before Ilkay Gundogan’s free-kick sparked wild scenes of celebrations among Pep Guardiola’s players and staff.
This was City’s 13th consecutive league victory to end the season with 98 points, and sees them become the first side since 2009 to retain the title.
Sadio Mane scored a double but Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Wolves was in vain as they fell just a point short of Manchester City.
