Police in Malawi have arrested the Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Martha Chizuma.
National police spokesperson Peter Kalaya has confirmed the development, but says cannot provide details.
Lawyer representing ACB Director General Martha Chizuma, Martha Kaukonde also confirmed that Chizuma has been arrested over the case of a leaked audio.
In a quick reaction, Civil society groups have expressed deep concerns over the arrest of the ACB Boss. The National Anti-Corruption Alliance called on President Lazarus Chakwera to live up to commitments and fight corruption.
Last week, Vice President Saulos Chilima was arrested on allegations that he accepted money in exchange for awarding government contracts and receiving $280,000 from a British businessman.
