Manchester United exited Europe following an embarrassing defeat to German football giants, FC Bayern Munich at Old Trafford. The English side also finished bottom of their Champions League group with three losses, a draw, a win, and a total of four points.
Kingsley Coman’s winning goal came in the 70th minute which brought a breakthrough for the German side after being played in by Harry Kane. The defeats to Copenhagen and Galatasaray left them with much to do which they failed to deliver.
There is no doubt that European football nights are part of what makes any club and its fans special. Due to their underperformance in group stages, they will not only be absent from the Champions League but also, from the Europa League tournament and this automatically mounts more pressure on the Red Devils to make the top four in the Premier League standings.
United’s head coach Erik Ten Hag, after the match, stated that individual errors cost them the game and Manchester United must now ‘give everything’ to make four in the Premier League. With Copenhagen beating Galatasaray in the other game in Group A, United would not have been able to finish among the top two anyway. But defeat here, a fourth in six games in this competition, means Ten Hag’s team are out of Europe altogether this season.
The club’s misery is predicted to go on as they face a much inform Liverpool on the 17th of December at Anfield.
