The presidential candidate of Nigeria’s Labour Party, Peter Obi and his running mate, Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed have produced a 62-page manifesto titled “Our Pact with Nigerians,” in which they list seven key areas if elected in 2023. The LP leadership made the document public late Saturday night.
In the manifesto, the LP candidate promised to provide honest and professional leadership in seven critical priority areas, including security, economy, restructuring, infrastructure, and the fight against corruption.
According to the manifesto, Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, pledged to “Secure and unite our dear nation, and manage our diversity such that no one is left behind in Nigeria.”
On page 18 of the manifesto, he explained his economic plan, which is to move from consumption to production by running a production-centered economy powered by an agrarian revolution and export-oriented industrialization.
“Move Nigeria from consumption to production and embark on comprehensive legal and institutional reforms and practicable restructuring measures, to fight corruption; ensure the enthronement of the rule of law, and decisively tackle all forms of corruption.”
“Our vision is a secure, united, and prosperous Nigeria that works for everyone and that realises the hope of black people of the world as a city on the hill.” he added in the manifesto, insisting that a new Nigeria is still attainable.
“We will build a society where citizens are motivated to work hard, to innovate, to invent, fully assured that they will enjoy the fruits of their enterprise. We want to create wealth for Nigeria and for every household through diligence, frugality and enterprise.” he continued.
In the manifesto, there was a plan to improve Nigerian youths’ human capital so that they could be more productive and competitive on a global scale by investing in world-class scholarship and research, quality healthcare, and entrepreneurship education.
The manifesto was concluded by highlighting Peter Obi’s and his running mate Datti Baba-Ahmed’s educational backgrounds, their fundamental achievements, and employment histories.
