Maradona: Argentine Court Approves Transfer of Football Legend’s Remains to New Mausoleum

Maradona Argentine Court Approves Transfer of Football Legend’s Remains to New Mausoleum

An Argentine court has granted permission to transfer the remains of football icon Diego Maradona, following a request from his daughters to a mausoleum that will be constructed in central Buenos Aires.

Maradona, who passed away in November 2020 at the age of 60, was recovering from brain surgery to remove a blood clot at the time of his death. The legendary footballer, who had long struggled with cocaine and alcohol addiction, was found dead from a heart attack in a rented home in Buenos Aires just two weeks after his surgery.

Maradona’s daughters requested that his remains be moved from their current resting place in a cemetery to a memorial site named the “M10 Memorial.” The court handling the transfer request is also investigating allegations of potential medical negligence that could have contributed to Maradona’s death.
