Marseille solidified their position as Ligue 1’s second-placed team with a convincing 2-0 victory over Angers on Sunday. Roberto De Zerbi’s men controlled the game at the Stade Raymond Kopa but had to wait until the 69th minute for Adrien Rabiot to break the deadlock, heading in Amine Gouiri’s corner.
Five minutes later, substitute Neal Maupay combined with Gouiri before slotting home his fourth goal of the season since joining from Everton. Rabiot’s goal-scoring form has been remarkable, with the French international netting his third header in five matches.
Gouiri impressed on his first start since signing from Rennes in January, while Algerian midfielder Ismael Bennacer also made a strong debut following his loan move from AC Milan.
Marseille’s dominant away form—winning nine of 11 matches on the road—sees them move six points clear of both Nice and Monaco in the chase for Champions League spots. However, they remain 10 points adrift of league leaders Paris Saint-Germain, who continued their dominance with a 4-1 win over Monaco on Friday.

Earlier on Sunday, Paulo Fonseca secured his first victory as Lyon manager, guiding his team to a 4-0 rout of Reims. Nicolas Tagliafico opened the scoring just before halftime, with Corentin Tolisso doubling the lead from a Rayan Cherki free-kick.
Cherki himself netted the third before Georgian forward Georges Mikautadze sealed the emphatic win in stoppage time. Reims, who played under new coach Samba Diawara for the first time, suffered a further blow when Patrick Zabi was sent off.
The win lifts Lyon back into sixth place, marking their first victory in eight games across all competitions. Reims remain 14th, four points above the relegation zone.
Strasbourg defeated bottom-placed Montpellier 2-0, with Dutch forward Emanuel Emegha scoring his ninth league goal of the season—his sixth in as many games.
Toulouse fought back twice to secure a 2-2 draw at Auxerre, extending their opponents’ winless streak to nine Ligue 1 matches.
