Bundesliga woes continued for Borussia Dortmund on Saturday with a 2-0 defeat at struggling Bochum, while Stuttgart missed a chance to climb into the top four after losing 2-1 at home to Wolfsburg.

Bochum, who started the match at the bottom of the league, took control in the first half thanks to a quick-fire double from winter loan signing Georgios Masouras.

Masouras opened the scoring after 33 minutes, tapping in a low shot from Philipp Hofmann, and then doubled his tally two minutes later, capitalising on a terrible backpass from Dortmund’s Niklas Suele.

The defeat marked Dortmund’s sixth loss in their last seven league games, with just one win during that stretch. They now sit 11th in the table, eight points off the top four.

Stuttgart also squandered an opportunity to move into fourth place, losing 2-1 at home to Wolfsburg.

Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade gave the hosts the lead with a stunning solo effort in the 72nd minute, but Wolfsburg responded five minutes later through Tiago Tomas’ tap-in from a Mohamed Amoura assist.

In the dying moments, Stuttgart’s Josha Vagnoman handled the ball in the penalty area, allowing Amoura to convert from the spot and secure all three points for Wolfsburg, lifting them to eighth and keeping their European hopes alive.

In other action, Freiburg secured a late 1-0 win at St Pauli, with an own goal from Philipp Treu two minutes from time, while Borussia Moenchengladbach triumphed 2-1 at Union Berlin with first-half goals from Lukas Ullrich and Tim Kleindienst.
