Reports have it that an explosion in the Ajuwon area of Iju-ishaga road in Lagos State has got every one within proximity of the explosion running for their lives.
A gas tanker conveying gasoline had a lone accident and blew up this afternoon leaving several wounded. The impact of the explosion led to a fire at adjoining buildings and many vehicles were burnt.
Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, director-general of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed the explosion in a tweet.
Speaking to journalists, Public Affairs Officer for the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA), Nosa Okunbor asked residents to steer clear from the site of the incident.
The fire is being tackled by the combined efforts of the LASEMA Response Team, LRU Fire, LASG Fire Service, Nigeria Police Force and NSCDC.
Okunbor said the LASEMA Response Team has been deployed to the scene of the explosion. He appealed to residents to go about their businesses and remain calm.
The incident comes 24 hours after a tanker explosion led to the deaths of 30 people in Kogi state.
