Max Air Plane Suffers Tyre Burst on Takeoff in Adamawa

An aircraft operated by Max Air lost several tyres on Sunday evening as it tried to take off from Yola Airport in Adamawa.

According to Bimbo Oladeji, the airline’s Director of Public and Consumer Protection, the aircraft had 119 passengers and six crew members.

“This evening, Max Air’s flight NGL1649, a Boeing 737 with registration 5N-ADB, carrying 119 passengers and six crew members, was cleared for takeoff from Yola Airport en route to Abuja,” Oladeji said.

“During the takeoff roll, a loud bang was heard, identified as the bursting of the rear gear tyres. Initially, two tyres burst. While attempting to taxi off the runway, the remaining two tyres also burst, rendering the aircraft completely disabled.” She added.

She disclosed that there were no injuries and the incident will be investigated.

It is the second incident involving the airline in just over a year after one of its aircraft crash-landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja last year. It had also departed from Adamawa airport.
