Kylian Mbappe has formally notified Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) of his demand for up to €100 million in unpaid salary and bonuses.

This comes after Real Madrid announced they had reached an agreement to sign Mbappe once his PSG contract expires at the end of June.

PSG had anticipated Mbappe’s departure this summer, incorporating various clauses in his contract to manage the situation, aiming to save up to €200 million through a complex legal arrangement.

Initially, in May, L’Equipe reported that Mbappe was negotiating the terms of his exit, believing PSG owed him €80 million. However, the latest update indicates this amount has risen to €100 million, as Mbappe claims he has not received payment for the final month of his contract.

Consequently, Mbappe has filed a claim with the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), the governing body of French club football, citing article 259 of the LFP’s charter, which mandates timely monthly salary payments.

Negotiations between PSG and Mbappe are ongoing to resolve this financial dispute. Should the issue remain unresolved by June 30, when his PSG contract officially ends, Mbappe may pursue legal action.

PSG has confirmed to L’Equipe that discussions with Mbappe are continuing.

Currently, Mbappe is participating in Euro 2024 as the captain of the French national team.

He missed France’s second group stage match, a goalless draw against the Netherlands, due to a broken nose sustained in their 1-0 victory over Austria.
