Grammy-nominated artist Davido has acknowledged American R&B star Chris Brown for playing a pivotal role in shaping his career following their initial meeting in 2018.
In a recent episode of the Bagfuel Brigade podcast, Davido recounted how it all began when a mutual Nigerian friend, who was close to Brown, called him via FaceTime while at Brown’s house.
Davido shared that his song was playing in the background during the call, and when he inquired about his friend’s location, he learned it was Chris Brown’s house. The friend then showed him a video of Brown dancing to his music.
Shortly after this virtual introduction, Davido travelled to the United States, where he met Chris Brown in person.
He said, “Meeting Chris Brown changed my life. I met him in 2018. He had a Nigerian friend, one of his best friends.
“The friend called me one day on FaceTime, and my song was playing in the background. I asked where he was, and he said he was at Chris Brown’s house. I was like, ‘What? Are you all playing my music? And he showed me Chris dancing to my song.”
