The Netflix lifestyle series “With Love, Meghan,” which starred Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and was supposed to be a sun-drenched ode to carefree Southern California living, will not debut this month as planned due to the region’s deadly wildfires, Markle said in a statement on Sunday.
“I’m grateful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California,” she said.
The series will now premiere on March 4 instead of January 15.
According to a Netflix synopsis of the series, “With Love, Meghan,” which was shot in Montecito, California, features Markle giving “personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection, and highlighting how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected.”
The rescue operations in the Los Angeles area have been aided by Markle and her spouse, Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex.
According to footage obtained by Fox 11, they appeared at the Pasadena Convention Centre on Friday, where they spoke with first responders and those impacted by the fatal wildfires.
José Andrés, the founder of World Central Kitchen (WCK), was also interviewed by the couple.
At a press conference on Sunday, LA County Sheriff Robert G. Luna stated that about 105,000 individuals are still under evacuation orders. Authorities said that at least 16 persons had perished.
As of late Sunday, Cal Fire reported that the coastal Palisades Fire, which is now regarded as the most devastating fire in LA County’s history, had spread to over 23,000 acres and was at least 11% contained.
On Sunday night, the 14,000-acre Eaton Fire in Altadena, on the east side of Los Angeles, was 27% contained.
Although there has been progress, officials stated on Sunday that the fire threat will continue to be “very high” as hazardous Santa Ana winds resume early this week.
