Meta Removes Rarara’s Account Following Pro-Tinubu Song Controversy

The Facebook account of popular Hausa Singer Dauda Adamu popularly known as Rarara has been deleted after it was reported en masse for a song praising President Bola Tinubu, amid economic hardship.

Reports indicate that the account with over 1 million followers was deleted on Saturday.

“Tinubu has made Nigeria great. Northerners have said goodbye to hunger, insecurity and poverty,” Rarara crooned in the music.

Rarara’s song dropped ahead of the planned nationwide protest over the current economic challenges in the country.

Not long ago, Rarara’s aged mother, Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu was abducted by bandits in Kahutu village, hometown of the singer in Danja local government area of Katsina State.

A source close to the family said the woman was released after 20 days in captivity.

In a related development, some X users advocated that all the singer’s account should be taken down.

On Facebook, Kawu Garba wrote in Hausa: “Please get me Rarara’s phone number. We will place at least 1 million calls to it until his phone crashes.”

Rarara’s songs were popularised so much he was appointed to join the retinue of the All Progressives Congress (APC) bigwigs during Buhari’s tenure.

Thereafter, Rarara was appointed National Director of Music for the Buhari 2019 Presidential Support Committee when the government was seeking a second term.

After Buhari’s reelection in 2019, some Nigerians, among whom were his supporters began to express their displeasure over the mismanagement of the economy and national security.

However, Rarara roundly insisted that the President was on the right track and working to better the fortunes of Nigeria.

In a surprising twist, just months into the Tinubu administration, Rarara criticised Buhari for crippling every sector of the country before leaving office, saying he regretted supporting the administration as it had failed to bring the reforms it had promised.

He went on to say that the 100 days of Tinubu’s administration were better than the eight years of Buhari’s administration.

While Rarara has not been appointed in any capacity by the ruling APC, his songs suggest his resolute support for President Tinubu.
