Meta Platforms plans to introduce a paid subscription service for its AI chatbot, Meta AI, with testing scheduled for the second quarter of this year. The initiative will enhance Meta’s AI capabilities and compete with advanced chatbot models from OpenAI and Microsoft.
While immediate financial gains from the subscription model are not expected, the move aligns with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s broader strategy to strengthen Meta’s AI infrastructure.

Meta AI, launched in September 2023, leverages large language models for various reasoning tasks. Alongside the subscription service, Meta is also developing AI-powered humanoid robots under a new division within its Reality Labs unit.
Additionally, a standalone Meta AI app will be introduced alongside Facebook and Instagram in the second quarter.
Tech giants like Microsoft and Amazon are similarly ramping up their AI investments, with projected expenditures reaching tens of billions of dollars.
