A tragic collision between a bus and a truck in southern Mexico has left several people dead, though local authorities have not yet confirmed an exact death toll. The incident occurred on Saturday morning in Escarcega, a town in Campeche state, when a bus traveling between Cancun and Tabasco collided with a truck that veered into its lane.
While local media reports suggest at least 30 fatalities, authorities confirmed that nine individuals were injured and are receiving treatment in various hospitals. The bus was reportedly engulfed in flames following the crash.

Elisa Hernandez, the Secretary of Government for Campeche, expressed regret over the incident but indicated that an official death count had not yet been determined. Tabasco’s governor, Javier May, expressed his condolences and confirmed coordination with both federal and Campeche authorities to provide necessary assistance.
By the evening, the attorney general’s office in Tabasco issued a statement saying that it was working with Campeche’s authorities and the forensic sciences directorate to conduct genetic testing to help identify the victims.
The bus company involved also released a statement expressing grief over the loss of passengers and staff. “We have lost dear colleagues, clients, and friends,” the statement read, thanking the public for their support during this difficult time.
