A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between the Nigerian government and Microsoft to provide digital literacy training to five million citizens.
The MOU was signed on the sideline of the GITEX Global 2022, which is now taking place at the Dubai World Trade Center. Prof. Isa Pantami, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy for Nigeria, signed the MOU.
As the minister put it, “job creation and economic development” will be boosted by the deal. For almost a year, Microsoft and the government have been discussing the project.
Furthermore, Prof. Pantami assured Microsoft and other businesses operating in Nigeria that the country will maintain an “enabling environment” by preserving “developmental and flexible” regulatory measures.
He went on to say that the ministry and all its parastatals will launch a number of capacity-building initiatives to provide young people with the knowledge and abilities they need to succeed in the digital sphere.
